Affiliate Voices Podcast #17 Mario Garcia

by admin on 08/11/2011

Greg and Cindy interview one of Greg’s high school classmates that is interested in learning more about affiliate marketing. Mario Garcia may be a newbie in our industry but he is a very successful news designer and President of Garcia Interactive. Basically he helps newspapers, magazines, and web sites package and present news and information more effectively. He has led online redesign projects for over 100 organizations, including The Wall Street Journal, The Hindu, Newsday, Crains New York and La Tribune (France).

Mario created a personal blog devoted to little league baseball and has plans on ramping up content during the off season. It’s fun for him but he needs a way to pay for the hosting and other related costs. So he’s looking at a long-term strategy of monetizing his sites through programs such as Baseball Rampage, managed by Bob Drumm. He was also excited when I told him about my interview with the Cleatskins affiliate manager last year on the Affiliate Juice Podcast. He’s now an affiliate in that program.

We talked with Mario about the simple things like how to promote specific products, how to find merchants and what questions to ask when he finds a good manager. Listen to this podcast if you are a complete newbie and have the same questions, of if you are a merchant/manager trying to figure out how to relate to affiliates.

During the podcast, we announced a new client for Greg Hoffman Consulting – Pets Warehouse on ShareASale and Commission Junction. We also discussed the huge success lately with Flash Sales in the Flirty Aprons affiliate program and how the biggest one yet is coming next Monday.
